Funatic Taittinger BIS-4 at the Jyväskylä International

* Friday, November 25th, 2011

WOW! What a weekend it was at the Jyväskylä International Dog Shows!

On Saturday Skumppa took the breed then he went on to win the huge FCI2 group and last but not least took 4th place in Best In Show ring in very tough competition!
Not bad from over 4000 entries all breed with almost no hair.
Thank you judges Frank Kane (breed), Paul Lawless (group) and Hans Lehtinen (BIS).
Skumppa took the breed also on Sunday under Rodney McDowell. Thank you!

Not only did Skumppa super but so did Piquet and her mother Luisa. Piquet was shown first time in intermediate class and won her class both days. On Saturday she also went 2nd best bitch and won CAC and reserve CACIB and on Sunday she placed 3rd best bitch and took CAC again. Her mom Luisa got Excellent raiting on Saturday and totally surprised me on Sunday by winning the huge open class  and taking reserve CAC in her “bikinis”.

30.10.2010 Seinäjoki International Dog Show

* Monday, November 7th, 2011

Seinäjoki was one of the biggest shows of the year with over 70 entries in Bernese.
Once again Nemo won open class and won 2nd CAC in a row! He is on a roll!!! Also girls did great in Seinäjoki: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Funatics in junior class, Luisa took 2nd place in big open class and Saimi went to 2nd place in champion class and 2nd best bitch.  Well done Grandma :)
It was terrific to have three generations of Funatics at the show: Grandma Saimi, mom Luisa and daughter Piquet :) With them and Nemo we also showed breeder group.

11.9.2011 Porvoo All Breed Show

Suberb day in Porvoo! Ninja took BOB, her son Nemo won open class, was 2nd best male and won his first Certificate! Skumppa took BOS, Luisa 2nd in open class and Funatic breeder group BOB!

I rarely write critiques in here but now I simply have to… The critiques our Funatics received in Porvoo are probably the best written critiques we’ve ever recieved from a judge.
Our 7.5 year old Grand Old Lady Ch. Funatic Versace took BOB in Porvoo and the judge Charlotte Höier simply fell in love with her:
“If I had 100 cows and a big farm, this was a bitch I would take home with me to attend them all. This is my interpretation of the Bernese Standard. In this dog everything fits, like a hand for a glove. I LOVE HER!” And after the judging she praised Ninja: “This dog is to die for, she’s a STAR!” And I can only concur, she is a true star!

Skumppa’s critique was also one of a kind:
“Very attractive masculine champion of perfect size & substance. True picture of a sound well constructed Bernese of high quality. I would like to change some small details in his head but this is a working breed so I easily forgive these beauty spots. This dog could move a whole day without getting tires. He is in total balance and makes a beautiful picture!”

And here is the critique for Funatic breeder group (Skumppa, Nemo, Ninja & Luisa):
“This is a skillfulled breeder’s work, a breeder whom understands what is the breed’s “must have”. Three out of four are subleme with their perfect size and substance and construction. All are extremely typical and I want this breeder to keep up the good work because she certainly knows what she is doing!

10.9.2011 Finnish National Specialty

* Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

We had a wonderful time at the Finnish National Specialty with many Funatics and our Chicago friends!

The day started with puppies. First it looked like it would be raining all morning but luckily the rain stopped and sun came up just in time. It wasn’t a bad morning at all because our boy Gusto took BOB puppy and finally BISS puppy, his sister Molla was BOS puppy, and their sisters Hertta 3rd and Mona 4th in puppy class. A great start for the M kids!
(Pictures of the puppies are coming as soon as I get the official photos.)

Next were Essi’s and Luisa’s turn in huge open bitch class: excellent for both and Luisa took 4th place with CQ from 30 entries! Essi also made the cut and was the last one to leave the ring – so we could say she was 5th. I’m extremely happy and proud for Luisa, first time in open class and actually first time at the show in almost 2 years!

Then Nemo and his brother Noa in open dog class. Nemo was our “dark horse” and surprised us all! Open class winner with CQ, then later on in the finals 3rd Best Dog and reserve CAC! WOW! His 3rd show ever and first show this year. What a handsome boy he is!

Finnish Specialty 2011: TK1 TK2 BH Funatic SpongeBob open class winner, 3rd best male & reserve CAC

Then it was time for champions. Skumppa took 3rd place with CQ in champion dogs.  Our Grand Old Ladies Saimi and Ninja were shown in champion bitches and Ninja showed all the younger dogs how to move and show. She took 2nd place with CQ in champion bitch class after Ch. Goldbear’s Qualitystreet who later on went to BOB and BISS.

Funatic breeder group took 4th place with prize of honor with Skumppa, Nemo, Ninja & Luisa.
So.. all in all a GREAT day for Funatic!

Finnish Specialty 2011: Funatic breeder group with Taittinger, SpongeBob, Q-Louisa & Versace

Also two Tanner kids did also very good jod: Alpweiden Please Be Jackpot was 2nd with CQ  and Matildan Obladii Onerva was 3rd with CQ in junior bitch class. They both look awesome!

Thank you everyone for coming! And a huge thank you for everyones help during the day with the dogs and handling and managing everything.
Special thank you goes to Debbie for helping groom the dogs and for your valuable tips! And also a big thank you to our paparazzi Janne!

Although the show was very well organized I have to criticize: show rings were not what I expect to see at the national specialty! Grass was awfully long and the surface was pitted. It resembled more a hayfield than a lawn. And three Bernese rings running at the same time… Well, I’ve never liked that and I never will. But I have to give credit, too. Everyone was ready to give a helping hand, rings were running smoothly and everyone had a good spirit and sportsmanship!

After a long and successful day we headed back to Helsinki and had a delicious dinner (and a little bit of bubbly) with Rituli, Kaisa, Nelli, Natalia and team Chicago.
It was a fantastic night, ladies!

25.-26.4.2009 Two shows & 960 KM

* Monday, April 27th, 2009

On Saturday we were at Lahti International Show which was also the 2nd specialty show for our breed club (the National Specialty will be held in August). The Char/Saimi daughters Luisa and Senna were the only ones to receive Excellent rating in juniors. Super :-) Luisa placed 2nd after her sister Senna who also placed 4th in a big and tough class in best bitch competition. This exuberant girl is quite a handful! Her energy just doesn’t seem to end – we haven’t found the off button yet! *HAHA*
In champion males I showed the dad of my R litter, Riccarron Nano Nano, who went to 2nd best dog. Saimi showed with style in champion bitches and received 3rd place. Great day over all!

After the show we headed to Tiina’s in Pori with Saimi and Senna and early in Sunday morning to another show: Vaasa International. Boyd/Usva son Diesel was first one in the ring. His first time in junior class: excellent and class winner. Not a bad start!
Again I showed Nano in champion dogs which he won. Later he won best dog class with Kirsi and took BOB and Group 1st with his breeder Satu. Super congrads!!!! He looked great :-)
In junior bitches Senna repeated her success winning the class and placing 4th in best bitch competition. Her mother Saimi was also on fire: she won the champion bitches, best bitch and finally took Best of Opposite. Quite a day! It was a long weekend and a lot of driving in a car but well worth it.
