Pups were born on Leap Day, February 29, 2020. First pup was born at 1.45PM. Ilo took an hour to whelp the first one and after the first pup others came out easily, each within 5 minutes since Ilo started to push.
Girl, girl, boy, boy… then about 1.5 hour break and third girl was born and not long after that finally fourth girl and Ilo was done at 6:50PM. Such a relief all went well and it was an easy delivery.
Thank you to Marjo, Ilo’s co-owner, for the company and helping hands! I’m so thankful and happy you stayed with us for the long weekend.

So, first 48 hours have passed and all is well in the whelping box. Ilo is a doting mother and taking good care of her puppies. Puppies are nursing and sleeping and seem very content.

Sire to our X litter is handsome Swedish gentleman Ch. Werner Wix Zlatan HD-A/B ED-0 and dam is our beautiful Ilo, Ch. Funatic Beauty Is The Beast.

Pups have no colors or names yet, only numbers so far… Maybe next week we’ll have colors on them so rest of the family can also recognise who is who.

Seven pups don’t seem to be a big enough family for Farina and she tries to adopt every plush toys in the house. Our daughter needs to be careful where she leaves her toys… This is the first litter in our home since our daughter was born. Being a two year old toddler who has her own strong will you can figure out that if Farina thinks all the plush toys are for her whelping box then our daughter thinks all the pups in the whelping box are hers. She now has her own small whelping box full of Berners. Luckily our daughter has been quite good at listening what she can do and when but of course she occasionally tries to push the boundaries. It has been fun watching her with puppies and how gentle she is with them.

Yesterday, Nov 6, was a special day here at Funatic: after a long time, almost 2.5 years, we welcomed a new litter of puppies in our house.

9 weeks ago Tiina drove to Hämeenkyrö with Farina to meet her chosen boyfriend Sulo. Odds were not with us, we had tried breeding her twice before with another male without luck and I almost gave up. But something told me to try one more time but with a different stud this time. Well, long story short, had to change stud plans once more when Farina came in season. But luckily it was a great plan and Sulo made our day. It took Sulo and Farina maybe 30 seconds and it was a tie! Then the long wait began… A month later ultrasound revealed Farina was indeed VERY pregnant.

Yesterday was THE DAY. Farina’s whelping was smooth and easy, with first couple puppies I didn’t even notice her pushing and PLOP there was a puppy. One was born outside when she went to pee …PLOP PLOP… and I managed to catch the puppy in the grass. It was like a clockwork with the first five, a puppy per 60 minutes. Then next one arrive 10 minutes apart and then again 60 minutes. I could still feel puppy or two inside but she needed to rest. The last two were born again without almost noticing she was pushing, unfortunately they were stillborn.

All in all, so happy things went smoothly and easily and I’m relieved pups are here safe and sound. We have 4 girls and 3 boys, and proud & loving mom is Ch. Funatic Fun For Your Life and happy sire is Ch. Vinkizz Standard.

I’m so proud of our two siblings Maija & Max. They turned two years old on October 2nd and now both are already champions of two countries.
Maija, FUNATIC GET LUCKY, has been shown very sparingly. She won her first CAC in March, 2nd CAC in the beginning of September, then a week later we visited Latvian specialty where she won Latvian Club Winner title and LV CAC and the first weekend of October the day she turned 2 years she won CAC at group show in Tuulos and that made her Finnish and Latvian Champion.

Max, FUNATIC GAME ON, has been more frequent participant at shows than her sister and has had quite a resume. He started  well already from junior classes and took Finnish Junior Winner 2015 title from his last show as a junior. He has won 7 CACs from Finland under 2 years of age, one CACIB, three BOS and two BOB. A week before he turned two years he also visited Estonia and won two EE CAC and then three weeks later he went back to Estonia and won 3rd EE CAC making him Estonian and Finnish Champion! Thank you Natalia for doing such terrific job with Max!

The siblings also participated temperament test soon after their 2nd  birthday and both passed with rather typical assessment for a Bernese. Max probably thought he was in an amusement park and Maija was her happy-go-lucky self and thought people will handle most of the tough decisions and she doesn’t need to worry much.

We had a wonderful weekend trip to Riga where we also participated the Latvian Club Show with Jenkki & Maija. Jenkki and his daughters did a superb job!

Funatic Happy-Go-Lucky won Best of Winners at the BMDCA National Specialty 2016

  And Bea, oh Bea! The Argentinian princess Multi BISS, Multi BIS, Multi Ch. Funatic Happy-Go-Lucky had arrived to Canada a month before the National and finished her Canadian Champion title in two weekends and won two majors in the US with Kim Groves-McLaughlin. I was so excited to see Bea again since I saw her last time in Milan a year earlier. And Rauli hadn’t seen the yellow puppy since she left Finland.
  Bea was entered in open class on Friday and what a show she gave us! It was amazing to watch her ringside as Bea showed beautifully with Kim, she won open class and later went Winners Bitch under respected breed specialist Gail Vogel. It was a dream come true for her owners Dalmi & Cora and also myself as a breeder. I still have to pinch myself! Such an honor to win at the National Specialty.

  On Saturday BOB ring I got to handle Bea since Kim was showing her handsome Jackson. Thank you Dalmi & Kim for letting me show Bea! It meant a world to me! I’ve always loved the US National since the quality of dogs in general is very high but this time in my eyes it was even better than in many years! I felt so honored and proud to be part of it all and to show a dog I bred in that amazing line up and win Best of Winners with Bea under respected breed specialist Lisa Ebnet.

  Bea comes from a litter of 10, out of Ch. Funatic Mulberry (Ch. Goldbear’s Suburban x Ch. Funatic Vanity Fair) sired by Ch. Brilliant Oizzy av Lee Armand (Ch. Fridkullas Triumph x Ch. Kordes Brillant av Lee Armand).

  The following weekend after National Bea took her last points to finish her AKC Ch title. So now Bea is AKC & CKC & Intercontinental & Argentina & Chile & Latin America & Andes Champion, Argentina & Uruguay Junior Champion
